Un arbuste. Il atteint 1 à 2 m de haut. Les tiges sont minces et ont des épines courbes. Les branches tombent. Les feuilles sont divisées deux fois en folioles le long de la tige. Les sections plus petites ont 9 à 10 folioles en forme d'oeuf. Ils mesurent 4 à 8 cm de long et 2 à 3 cm de large. Il y a de petites épines sur les veines.
