        Un grand arbre à feuilles persistantes. Il atteint 25-30 m de haut. Le tronc mesure 1 m de diamètre. Les jeunes feuilles sont brun pourpre. Ils nus minces et velus. La tige de la feuille mesure 1 cm de long. Les feuilles mesurent de 2,5 à 15 cm de long sur 1,5 à 5 cm de large. Ils sont ovales ou en forme d'épée. Ils sont de papier à légèrement coriaces. La base est arrondie et inégale. Il y a de fins poils rougeâtres en dessous. Il y a 9 à 15 veines latérales de chaque côté de la nervure médiane. Les fleurs sont jaunes et en épis tombants. Ils se produisent individuellement à l'aisselle des feuilles. Ils mesurent 15 cm de long. Le fruit est une noix de 0,8 à 1,5 cm de diamètre. Il est dans une tasse de 2,5 à 4 cm de diamètre.
