Un arbre à feuilles persistantes. Il atteint 18 m de haut. L'arbre et les branches peuvent avoir des épines. Les feuilles sont simples et alternes. Le limbe des feuilles mesure 6 à 12 cm de long sur 2 à 5 cm de large. Il est étroitement ovale à en forme d'épée et se rétrécit jusqu'à la pointe. Les fleurs sont groupées à l'aisselle des feuilles.
