Un petit arbre ou un arbuste. Il peut mesurer entre 1,5 et 12,5 m de haut. Les tiges sont brun gris et finement rugueuses. Les feuilles ont 3 folioles. Ils ont tendance à être ovales et mesurent 5,5 à 14 cm de long sur 1,6 à 10 cm de large. Les folioles sont ovales avec des poils soyeux en dessous. Les folioles mesurent 3 à 5 cm de long sur 1,5 à 3 cm de large. La pointe a tendance à être arrondie. La tige des feuilles mesure 2 à 3 cm de long. Les fleurs mesurent 1,5 à 2 cm de long et ont un parfum. Les grappes de fleurs se produisent à l'aisselle des feuilles sur des tiges très courtes. Les pétales peuvent être blancs ou jaunes et il y a souvent une tache verdâtre près de la base du standard. Ils mesurent 1 cm de diamètre. Les fruits sont des gousses de 1 à 5 cm de long.
