Un arbre de taille moyenne. Il atteint environ 15-25 m de haut. Il s'étend sur 2 à 10 m de large. Les feuilles sont vert terne dessus et argentées dessous. Ils peuvent mesurer 20 cm de long. Les jeunes feuilles ont des dents le long du bord tandis que les feuilles plus âgées ont des bords lisses. Les fleurs sont jaune pâle sur des capitules atteignant 15 cm de long. Plusieurs variétés différentes de cette plante existent. Les fruits sont des cônes gris argenté avec des sacs de graines qui dépassent sur le côté{{{0(+x) (traduction automatique).
