Une fougère arborescente élancée et haute. Il atteint 12 m de haut. Le tronc est ligneux et mesure 20 cm de diamètre. Les frondes sont divisées en deux. Ils peuvent être vert terne ou brillant sur le dessus et plus pâles en dessous. Les frondes mesurent 4 m de long sur 1 m de large. Ils sont longs et mous et recouverts d’une dense couverture d’écailles brunes. When the fronds break off they leave oval scars.
