Un grand arbre. Il perd ses feuilles au cours de l'année. Il atteint 20 m de haut. L'écorce est brun noirâtre. Les feuilles sont ovales ou oblongues et épaisses et coriaces. Ils mesurent 4 à 10 cm de long sur 3 à 5 cm de large. Ils ont des poils doux en dessous. La base est arrondie et la pointe est pointue. Les fleurs sont verdâtres et mesurent 1,5 cm de diamètre. Ils se produisent seuls ou par paires en face de la feuille. Les fruits sont ronds et violets et mesurent 2-3 cm de diamètre. Ils sont dans un cercle de 8-17{{{0(+x) (traduction automatique).
