Les jeunes branches peuvent être à quatre côtés. Les feuilles sont généralement opposées. Le limbe des feuilles est ovale et mesure 11-16 cm de long sur 4,5-5,5 cm de large. Les jeunes feuilles sont rouges mais virent au vert pâle. Ils deviennent plus tard vert foncé et brillants sur le dessus, mais blanchâtres en dessous. Les fleurs sont jaune pâle et petites. Les fruits sont rouges mais deviennent noirs à maturité. Ils mesurent 10 à 15 mm de long{{{0(+x) (traduction automatique).
