        Un grand arbre à feuilles persistantes. Il atteint une hauteur de 25 à 30 m. Le tronc mesure 40 à 100 cm de diamètre. Les arbres forment des branches basses. L'écorce est gris-brun et craquelée. La tige des feuilles mesure 5 à 10 mm de long. Les feuilles sont alternes et mesurent 7 à 18 cm de long sur 3,5 à 8 cm de large. Ils sont oblongs ou en forme d'épée et avec des dents le long du bord. La base est en forme de cœur ou arrondie. La feuille se rétrécit jusqu'à la pointe et peut avoir une pointe acérée. Les feuilles sont épaisses de papier. En dessous, il y a des poils doux. Les fleurs n'ont pas de tiges et sont jaunes. Ils sont couverts de poils bruns doux. La tige fleurie peut mesurer 40 cm de long. La coupe est ronde et mesure 3,5 à 4 cm de diamètre. Le fruit est une noix. Il est enfermé dans un revêtement aux épines épaisses. L'écrou est en forme de cône et mesure 1-1,4 cm de diamètre. Il est densément velu{{{0(+x) (traduction automatique).
